Collecting and Using Your Personal Information

Types of Data Collected

Account and profile information

To create and manage Your Account, We may collect:

Location and related status information (core to the Service)

Kabilo: Live Location is a private, invitation-based group location-sharing Application. Location sharing begins only when You actively choose to start it. With Your permission (including background location permission where You grant it), We may collect and process:

Location and related status may be uploaded to the Company’s servers so that approved members of the private Groups You create or join can see Your shared location, address, battery, and activity status on the map and in Group views. This sharing with Group members is a primary purpose of the Service. We do not make Your location visible to the public.

You can enable or disable location access through Your Device settings. If You turn location access off, or stop sharing in the Application, live-location sharing will stop and related sharing features may not work as intended.

Group and social information inside the Service

When You use Groups, We may process:

Usage Data and diagnostics

Usage Data may be collected automatically when using the Service, including:

Information from Your Device permissions

Depending on the features You use and permissions You grant, the Application may access:

We do not use Your location or Device identifiers for third-party advertising or cross-app advertising tracking.

How We Use Your Personal Data

The Company may use Personal Data for the following purposes:

We do not sell Your Personal Data. We do not use Personal Data for third-party advertising networks.

Sharing Your Personal Data

We may share Personal Data in the following situations:

With other Users in Your Groups

If You join or create a Group, members of that Group can see information You share through the Service, such as Your display name, profile picture, last known or live location, address text, battery level, and activity status. Do not join a Group with people You do not trust with that information.

With Service Providers

We use Service Providers to operate the Application. Depending on configuration, this may include:

These providers process data on Our behalf or as needed to deliver their services, under their own privacy terms where applicable.

For business transfers

We may share or transfer Personal Data in connection with any merger, sale of Company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of Our business.

With Affiliates

We may share Personal Data with Our affiliates, who must honor this Privacy Policy.

For legal reasons

We may disclose Personal Data if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities, or when We believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or investigate wrongdoing.

With Your consent

We may disclose Personal Data for other purposes with Your consent.

Text Messages (SMS)

You may receive SMS messages from Us in connection with the Service, primarily for:

When You request an OTP or otherwise use SMS features, We collect and store information needed to deliver those messages, such as Your phone number and related delivery metadata.

No mobile information will be shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers and consent records We collect for texting are shared only with Service Providers that must handle them to deliver the texts (for example, SMS delivery providers).

Retention of Your Personal Data

The Company will retain Your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, including to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce Our agreements.

Location history is retained for up to 6 months, unless You delete Your Account earlier or a longer period is required by law.

Where possible, We apply shorter retention periods and/or reduce identifiability by deleting, aggregating, or anonymizing data. Unless otherwise stated, the periods below are maximum periods (“up to”), and We may delete or anonymize sooner when data is no longer needed:

Category Typical retention
Account information Duration of Your Account plus up to 24 months after closure (for disputes and post-termination issues)
Location and location history Up to 6 months. It is deleted or anonymized after account deletion, subject to backup and legal limits.
Customer support data Up to 24 months from ticket closure
Usage / analytics and server logs Up to 24 months (security and product improvement); longer only if needed for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance
Crash and diagnostic data As retained by Our crash-reporting Service Provider under its practices, and for as long as needed to fix issues

We may retain Personal Data longer when required by law, needed for legal claims, requested by You, or present in encrypted backups scheduled for routine deletion.

When retention periods expire, We securely delete or anonymize Personal Data. Residual copies may remain in encrypted backups for a limited time. Anonymized statistical data that cannot reasonably be linked back to You may be retained for research and analytics.

Transfer of Your Personal Data

Your information, including Personal Data, is processed at the Company’s operating offices and in other places where parties involved in the processing are located. That may include transfers to computers outside Your state, province, country, or other jurisdiction, where data protection laws may differ.

Where required by applicable law, We will ensure international transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards. We will take steps reasonably necessary so that Your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy, and will not transfer Personal Data to an organization or country unless adequate controls are in place.

Your Rights and Choices

Access, correction, and deletion

You may update certain profile information in the Application (for example, name and profile picture).

You may delete Your Account from within the Service (Settings delete account flow) or by contacting Us. Account deletion removes Your Account access and initiates deletion of Personal Data We hold about You, subject to legal retention needs and technical backup limits.

You may also contact Us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of Personal Data We have collected about You, to the extent required by applicable law.

Location and permissions

Live location is shared in the background only after You actively start location sharing in the Application. A persistent notification/Indication is shown while background sharing / Access is active. You can stop sharing at any time from the Application, leave the Group, or revoke location permission in Device settings.

You can withdraw location, camera, photo, motion, or notification access in Your Device settings at any time. Withdrawing permission may limit or disable related features. If the Application asks You to exclude it from battery optimization to improve the reliability of active live-location sharing, You may decline or change that setting at any time; the Application will continue to work, although location updates may be delayed by your device.

Group sharing

You can leave Groups You have joined (subject to in-app Group controls). Leaving a Group stops further sharing with that Group’s members going forward; it does not automatically erase historical data already processed as described in this Policy.

Disclosure of Your Personal Data

Business transactions

If the Company is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, Your Personal Data may be transferred. We will provide notice before Your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy, where required.

Law enforcement

Under certain circumstances, We may disclose Your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

Other legal requirements

We may disclose Personal Data in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to:

Security of Your Personal Data

The security of Your Personal Data is important to Us, but no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While We strive to use commercially reasonable means to protect Your Personal Data, We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s and Minors’ Privacy

The Service is not directed to, and We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from, anyone under the age of 18.

If You are a parent or guardian and You believe Your child has provided Us with Personal Information, please contact Us. If We become aware that We have collected Personal Information from anyone under the age of 18, We will take steps to remove that information from Our servers as soon as reasonably possible.

Some countries and states set a higher age at which an individual can consent to the processing of their own Personal Information. Where We rely on consent as a legal basis and the law applicable to a User sets an age higher than 18, We may require the consent of that User’s parent or guardian before We collect and use their Personal Information.

Third-Party Links and Services

Our Service may contain links to other websites or rely on third-party SDKs and APIs (maps, geocoding, analytics, crash reporting). If You use a third-party service, their privacy practices apply to data they process. We encourage You to review those providers’ privacy policies.

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of third-party sites or services beyond what is described in this Policy regarding Our use of Service Providers.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify You of changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date.

Where required, We will let You know via prominent notice in the Service before a change becomes effective. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes are effective when posted on this page.
